Now here's an idea... how about those computer companies start embedding GPS chips (which aren't really that expensive) in their laptops - thus stopping theft of laptops overnight?

how is it that US corporation law can allow Microsoft to stay in business when it's own courts have found it guilty of unfair trade practices and abusing its market dominance, as have the EU and now Korea?

Cowpitalism

Dec. 15th, 2005 | 08:10 pm
mood: amused amused

TRADITIONAL CAPITALISM:

* You have two cows.

* You sell one and buy a bull.

* Your herd multiplies, and the economy grows.

* You sell them and retire on the income.

AMERICAN CAPITALISM (or Enron-capitalism):

* You have two cows.

* You sell three of them to your publicly listed company, using letters of
credit opened by your brother-in-law at the bank, then execute a debt/equity
swap with an associated general offer so that you get all four cows back,
with a tax exemption for five cows. The milk rights of the six cows are
transferred via an intermediary to a Cayman Island company secretly owned by
the majority shareholder who sells the rights to all seven cows back to your
listed company. The annual report says the company owns eight cows, with an
option on one more. Sell one cow to buy a new president of the United
States, leaving you with nine cows. No balance sheet provided with the
release.

* The public buys your bull.

AN AUSTRALIAN CORPORATION:

* You have two cows.

* You sell one, and force the other to produce the milk of four cows.

* You are surprised when the cow drops dead.

A FRENCH CORPORATION:

* You have two cows.

* You go on strike because you want three cows.

A JAPANESE CORPORATION:

* You have two cows.

* You redesign them so they are one-tenth the size of an ordinary cow and
produce 20 times the milk

* You then create clever cow cartoon images called Cowkimon and market them
worldwide.

A GERMAN CORPORATION:

* You have two cows.

* You reengineer them so they live for 100 years, eat once a month, and milk
themselves.

A BRITISH CORPORATION:

* You have two cows.

* Both are mad.

AN ITALIAN CORPORATION:

* You have two cows, but you don't know where they are.

* You break for lunch.

A RUSSIAN CORPORATION:

* You have two cows.

* You count them and learn you have five cows.

* You count them again and learn you have 42 cows.

* You count them again and learn you have 12 cows.

* You stop counting cows and open another bottle of vodka.

A SWISS CORPORATION:

* You have 5000 cows, none of which belong to you.

* You charge others for storing them.

A CHINESE CORPORATION:

* You have two cows.

* You have 300 people milking them.

* You claim full employment, high bovine productivity, and arrest the
newsman who reported the numbers.

A NEW ZEALAND CORPORATION:

* You have two cows.

* That one on the left is kinda cute...

i found it very amusing :)

sydney was fucking awesome. we got to the front of the mosh, bron & dave stayed there I only lasted 3/4 of the concert up the front before i a major dose of "must get out" started running through my head. we got very very very broken. bernie met trent! lucky bitch. best concerts ever. 2005 has been fantastic... must do something memorable to remember it by!

we're home now. its cold and depressing.

can anyone say "earthcore"? ;)

for 11 years i've wanted to see NiN live. I feel completely and utterly satisfied - that was a fucking awesome concert. got ready with [info]yodas_ears & [info]minimo55 and [info]dribs, and cruised into the venue at 8:30. one of two things that pissed me off was that our tickets said door 16, we were told to go to door 10 to get an orange wristband, then to door 13 to get on there, we get to door ten they tell us back down the stairs and look for the sign that says wristbands, then head to door 6, we get the wristbands and they tell us to head to door 14, we head to door 6, and finally made it down to the dancefloor. the other thing that pissed me off were the security - they were more interested in telling people in the seats to sit down than helping some girl that had fallen over in the mosh. this guy ran up and told one of the bouncers what had happened and the bouncer turned away and kept yelling at the guy standing up on his seat. the guy grabbed him again and said something along the lines of "she's fucking collapsed man!" and was told to fuck off and find another security guard.

we spent most of the time up the back of the dance floor - as everyone was crowding to the front the back raised up and we could see really well! we tried going in the mosh but discovered that there were two moshes and a fucking barrier between them. we couldn't get to the front mosh, and couldn't see shit where we were and some dirty smelly hippy kept jumping and sticking his festy armpit in my face, so back to the back we went, where we stayed dancing for most of the night. best dance i've had forever, trent played all my all-time favourite songs and it was just fantastic! I have NEVER had such an awesome time at a concert!!! Caught up with quite a few people which was awesome!!

And the best bit... we're flying to sydney with in 12hrs to do it all again on Friday night!!! WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

have an interview for another job tomorrow. i really don't know how it will go since they'll probably be asking me questions and i'll be giving answers like "he dreamed a god up, and called it christianity!"

we had all of our relatives over for Violet's 3rd birthday party yesterday. One of the 10 nieces/nephews who attended stole the $2 coin out of Phillipa's tooth fairy pillow for the tooth she lost last week. consequently Pippa thinks that the tooth fairy came and took her tooth without leaving any money...

such a busy few weeks. so much to say, still too broken to put it all into words, though i think i have the timeline of everything worked out in my head. it's taken me this long to get it all straight in my head, but i've finally managed to summarise it into a few lines...

somehow, between 6:30am thursday 12th and 1am Monday 16th I spent a great deal of time with good friends having the weekend to top all weekends, which somehow involved the tori concert, 3 hours sleep, work, a wicked night out at dream, a fun-filled morning, about 200kms of driving, then out to retro and carmilla's, 5 hrs sleep, then another 100kms of driving, then finally 6 hrs sleep.

i'm still reeling. i don't think i've gone as hard as that except for at earthcore. my body is not used to abuse like this. and today my sweetheart called me up with the wonderful news that nine inch nails are touring in august! i'm stoked. i'm scared. i'm going to go to sydney and melbourne concerts, and i'm going to have as fucked up a weekend as the weekend before last.

and i can't wait!

had an awesome night on Friday, really enjoyed myself at dream, was extremely scattered and can barely remember conversations, we wound up back here with team [info]jeziable and sat around the fireplace for hours just relaxing, smoking and talking shit. very enjoyable!!!

most of you would've at some point heard the quote supposedly from Kristian Wilson, an executive from Nintendo in 1989 "Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music." I've always meant to get around to doing an image like this but i'm so slack that someone beat me to it!
